After more than thirty years in the technology industry, including thirteen years at Microsoft, I recently stepped away to devote myself fully to the creative work that has always been central to my life. I’ve spent my life writing, drawing, painting, reading, and composing and recording original music. Although my work now centers on writing, figurative painting, and mentoring other writers, each medium has shaped the way I think about storytelling, composition, and emotional expression. At their core, stories and images are a means of communicating our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing, serve as Faculty Advisor and Senior Fiction Editor for Sierra Nevada Review, and my fiction has appeared in Split Lip Magazine, OLIT, and the Saints & Sinners LGBTQ+ Literary Festival Anthology. I was also selected for the Sewanee Writers' Conference and the Vermont Studio Center residency.

Whether I'm writing fiction or painting portraits, I'm interested in many of the same questions: identity, memory, power, desire, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are. Although the medium is different, I see both practices as ways of exploring the emotional and political dimensions of contemporary life.

Today I divide my time among writing, painting, editorial work, and creative coaching. I've been fortunate to learn from generous teachers, editors, artists, and fellow writers throughout my life, and mentoring others has become one of the most rewarding aspects of my creative practice. Whether tending to my own work or helping another artist develop theirs, I'm drawn to work that is intellectually curious, emotionally honest, and ambitious in its craft.
